As I wait for my new cavies to get big enough to breed, I thought I would share some of what my research into cavy genetics is teaching me. I have studied the ACBA’s Cavy Genetics book by Harry Claus so many times that it is falling apart. Now I’ve started reading some of Sewall Wright’s papers on guinea pig genetics.
I thought I would start with the basics, then go through each of the major genes, and finally look at the interaction of different groups of genes. If I get anything wrong, please let me know and I’ll make corrections.
This site will archive these little genetics article according to topic so folks can skip around. I know I have had a heck of a time finding more advanced genetics information online. I hope folks find these useful.
