Baby Texels

All of the baby Sunflower sows are now sold or reserved. The two boars, which have nice curls, are for sale. I can deliver them to the PaSRBA show in February.

The next litter is due in about two weeks — best guess since I don't know the exact conception date. The dam is a Tortoise Shell sow from Jim Hupp's line and the boar is Giddings, a Galatea broken Red & White, who took RIS at the Balitmore & Howard Show last year. There are already two folks on the wait list for sows from this litter.

Finally got these up. Sorry for the wait. My boys got home from pre-school, ate lunch, built a nest of blankets in the family room and fell asleep. But now I hear noises, so enjoy the pictures. There are two litters, one from approximately Jan. 2, 2005. The second litter was born here in the early pre-dawn Sunday morning, 1/9/05. We got mom here just in time. Texel News

Well, the new texels are settling in. They came from Tina Walker in Harrisburg, but she got them originally from Sandy Dumitru of Sunflower Cavies in California. Check out Sunflowers' excellent, informative, and fun site. In fact, bookmark it like I have because she has links to all kinds of information on breeding, standards, health, and just about everything else. It is a great resource.

Okay on to the texels. From Tina I have aquired her original Sunflower boar (SUN204), plus three of the original Sunflower sows, plus two more sows from the same line. And there were little surprises. One of the sows had had babies shortly before week got them. And another sow delivered 3 pups the next morning. All healthy and beautiful. I'll add photos as soon as I can. I know folks are waiting, but I've got a baby pig emergency on my hands, so bear with me.

New Texels

I am picking up some new Texels today, including some 1-2 week old babies. Five Red/Wh Sows, and a TSW boar. Some of these will be for sale. More details soon. I have a waiting list for sows already, so if you're interested please let me know right away.

[Update: 1/9/05] There are six adult texels in all, five Red/Wh sows and a TSW boar. In addition the three babies are all sows. And then this morning, another sow gave birth to two Red/Wh boars and a little TSW sow. These will all be available when weaned. However, as of now all of the baby sows are reserved. If you are interested please let me know ASAP. I have another litter due in about three weeks, and then it will be a month or so before more babies.

I'm taking pictures tomorrow. Today I'm cleaning cages.

Baby Texels for sale

Our brindle texel sow gave birth to this litter about four weeks ago. They are weaned and ready to go. The dam has no pedigree, but comes from an excellent breeder. Her black is rich and deep and goes right down to the skin. No fading in the undercoat. The sire has a minimal pedigree only going back a generation, but again comes to us from a well known breeder. He likewise has good rich color going right to the skin. All the baby boars have a tiny bit of white from their sire, but their curl looks really nice and tight, just like their father. We also have 2 black satin teddy boars and a black satin teddy sow ready to go. They are 2 months old. No pictures because, well, they all look the same, black and shiny, but in the picutres they just look like black blobs. They have full pedigrees. The boars are $20 each and the sow is $25.

And today we just had another teddy litter. A red teddy boar, satin carrier. A golden agouti teddy sow, satin carrier, and a golden agouti boar, satin carrier. The dam is a DEW. The sire is a golden solid satin. The sow looks really good with no eye circles or flesh pads.
